We
are known for our trees. Plain and simple, you will not
find a better
selection any where in South Texas and you won’t find
anyone with better prices.
We sell only tried and true varieties, grown locally for
better performance in our differing soils and environments.
Trees grown in East Texas or Louisiana don’t always
like our alkaline soil and many will turn yellow after a
few years and won’t thrive.
We carry a huge selection of shrubs and small specimen trees
such as crape myrtles, hollies, nandinas and more. Our knowledgeable
staff can help you make a plan for your garden and will show
you the right way to plant to insure success.
Schulz Nursery is also home of the Shady Deal! We will plant
any tree valued at $100.00 or more for free. The planting
includes compost, fertilizer and mulch, as well as a one
year guarantee on the tree. Delivery and staking charges
may apply. Please ask any one on the staff for more details
about this great offer. Remember, trees are sold based on
their pot size but the actual size of a tree can vary greatly.
We regularly offer free weekend seminars on how to plant,
prune, fertilize and select trees and shrubs. Please check
our newsletter for helpful tips and advice as well as a schedule
of upcoming events.
Cedar Elm: A large (over 50 ft. tall)
upright shade tree, native to Texas. Beautiful form and
yellow-orange fall foliage. It
is tolerant to drought and a wide variety of soils.
Sierra Oak: A small,
evergreen oak tree that is Oak Wilt resistant and which
grows to about 35 ft. tall.
It is the best oak available and they are difficult
to come by. We only have a few. The have limited acorn
production and are in great demand -so buy them now because
we might not
have them again for a while!

popular fast growing oak from Northern Mexico. The new
foliage is red then turns
dark green. Evergreen in mild winters. Will reach heights
of 40 to 50 ft.

ball sized) are a
real novelty. Tolerates drought and poor soils. Grows over
50 ft. tall.

and can reach 25 to 30 feet in height in the shade but
can reach 15 feet tall with

clusters of creamy white flowers are produced in fall,
followed by the delicious, brightly colored, winter fruit.

grow about 15 to 35 feet tall. It is an evergreen and is
covered with clusters
of white star-shaped flowers in the spring, followed by
small orange fruit. This tree has a moderate growth rate.

others listed (25 -50 ft.) the Red Oak is rounded with
open branching habit. Brilliant
red foliage in the fall. Roots grow deep; it is a good
